Obituary for Theodore V. Kondrich

Theodore "Ted" Vincent Kondrich of Gibsonia, formerly of Plum, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Ted is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Marcia Lynn (Wilson); sons Keith (Helen Laffey) and Kurt (Margie Matta); daughters Marla Brashear (Mark) and Tanya Bosack (Bill). Ted was so very proud of his 13 grandchildren: Wilson, Lily, Teddy, and Tommy Kondrich; Nolan and Chloe Kondrich; Jake, Jessica, Joshua and Josey Brashear; and Samantha, Tyler, and Avery Bosack. Ted’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren at North Myrtle Beach, The Outer Banks and Oglebay Resort in West Virginia. Ted was a 1953 graduate of Turtle Creek High School and studied accounting at Duquesne University. He spent most of his career as an accountant for Westinghouse but his true vocation was public service. In addition to his time in the United States Army, Ted served as a Plum Borough Councilman, Pennsylvania State Representative, Deputy Director of the Allegheny County Elections Department and most recently as Special Consultant to Allegheny County District Attorney, Stephen A. Zappala, Jr. Ted was known and highly respected for his cooperative, bipartisan approach and unwavering commitment to the common good for all people. Ted was a man of great faith with a special devotion to our blessed mother, Mary. Throughout his life he was an active member of various parishes including St. Coleman, Our Lady of Joy, St. John the Baptist (Plum), and, most recently, St. Richard (Gibsonia). While he will be sorely missed, his family and friends take great solace in the fact that he is now watching over them from Heaven where they will all be reunited one day. Friends received 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at MAURICE L. KNEE, LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Rd. (across from S & T Bank) Plum, PA 15239. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, 11 a.m., St. John the Baptist R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery. If desired, the Kondrich family suggest memorials to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, 212 Ninth St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or to Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh, 700 Bursca Dr., Suite 705, Bridgeville, PA 15017
